Grab some paper and pens (I'm partial to the fun gel pens) and let's start with some brainstorming.

First, start by making a list of everything you're looking for. I would include:

* What advertising opportunities does the association offer? For this purpose, make sure they offer some sort of advertising or sponsorship package.

* Is it a cause near and dear to your heart? (Or even just something you believe in?)

* Does the cause reach your target market? This is important. In the above example, as cool as I think that opportunity is, I'm not racing to sign up. Why? Because chances are, I'm not hitting enough of my target market to make it worth my while. And since there's a limited number of these opportunities, I could potentially be taking something away from a business that could really benefit from it.

However, here's something else to think about. Basically when it comes to target markets, this is what you have to decide: Is the cause more important than you getting business out of it? The more closely aligned the cause is to your target market, the more likely you'll see results from your participation. But again, if this is a cause you're passionate about and it reaches absolutely no one in your target market, you may still want to participate simply because it is so important to you. There's nothing wrong with reaping some reward for your time and/or money.)

Now that you know what you're looking for, start digging around for opportunities. Start by calling the local Chamber of Commerce and networking groups like the Rotary and Kiwanis and other organizations that have their fingers on your community's pulse. Ask about both high-profile events and ones off the beaten path. Make sure you research them both -- high-profile events may seem too pricey on the surface, but dig deeper and you may discover it's perfect for your business. And you may strike gold with smaller venues.

You can also try calling your local area school sports coaches, band directors and fine arts program teachers -- all frequently offer programs that might include sponsorships and/or underwriting and/or various forms of advertising. Ditto non-school run sports programs like dance, gymnastics, Pop Warner football, AYSO soccer, Little League, YBL Basketball, etc.

With any luck, you'll discover your own win-win situation.

In fact if you're reading this, you probably want to do it as well. If you're like many of the people I've talked to you've probably been spoon fed clich�½s until your ears bleed. "Just pray, let go and let God, spend more time in the Word..." You know the drill.

For some reason the clich�½'s don't cut it. You're struggling with envy, hurt, anger, pornography, power, or just feel a complete phoney in your Christian life. Maybe you secretly fear you've committed the unforgivable sin, or that you're really going to hell and there's nothing you can do about it.

You're afraid to talk to your minister or Christian friends because you fear they will judge you. Maybe you have talked to them and they did condemn you. That will not happen to you here. I want to lay out for you very briefly the sort of things you need to do to improve your walk with the Lord. God loves you, and wants to change your life. If you are reading this now, it is clear evidence that the Spirit is working in your heart, because you want to change, and I know you can. So let's roll.

Christian Gratitude

It is easy to get depressed over what's wrong with your Christian life. While there's nothing wrong with concern over sin, forgetting God's love is an even greater sin. Before you take inventory of your faults, make sure you start your blessings list. Remembering what God has done in your life, and in Christ is the foundation for real change.

Knowledge is the power to change

You want to change, and you need to change, but how? Romans 12 says we are transformed by the renewing of our mind. Christianity is a lot more than head knowledge, but real faith involves your head. You need to know :

* Yourself - who are you? What has God called you to be?

* The Bible - you need to know what He says about your life and how to live it.

* Your desires - you need to know your deepest desires, because they will either lead you to, or away from God.

* Your thoughts - what's really going on between your ears?

* You need honest perspective. You need to know what other Christians think. We find it hard to discuss what's really going on inside, but when we do, we discover we all have deep, dark secrets.

Holy Habits The heart of spiritual self development

One of the biggest weaknesses in the 21st Century is a fear of discipline. We somehow feel that discipline and habits are the enemy of spontaneity and authenticity. But if you ask any successful person in ANY field, including faith, you will find deeply ingrained habits built from a lifetime of hard work and discipline. Habits of prayer, fasting, planned Bible reading, church, fellowship, time out for retreats and renewal, all form part of a balanced Christian life. If that's all there is, our faith is just an empty shell, but without them we will be weak and vulnerable.

Lord knows you've got to change

We mentioned above how we are changed by renewing our minds, but what is it about our minds we need to change? We need to understand what forces shape our behaviour and thinking. We are responsive beings. We respond to the environment around us and make choices. Everything we do reflects a choice we make. We may not be consciously aware, but it's true. I might feel powerless to walk away from the chocolate cake, but in between seeing it, and eating it, something happened in my brain. I said things to myself. "It wont hurt to have a little." "It's pointless trying, I've failed so many times before". "I'll start again tomorrow".

We need to notice the thoughts that ultimately lead to us making choices we don't want to make. We need to replace those unhelpful thoughts with a new program - one that leads us in the way we want to go. It might be a Bible verse. It might be an affirmation. It may be a quote from Dr Phil! It doesn't matter as long as it's true and it helps.

We need a plan to move from where we are now, to where we want to be. We need to ask ourselves:

* How important is this change to me?

* What will I gain from making the change?

* How confident am I that I can make the change?

* How will this change improve my Christian life?

We are wise to start with changes that we really want, that are important, and that we feel able to change. This works for most people. However there are adrenalin junkie types who find it better to bite of a big challenge first, just to prove they can do it.

Changing behaviour, particularly lifelong bad habits is hard, and usually needs expert help. Whether it's a Christian Life Coach, a therapist, a counsellor or pastor. It's not the title that's important, but the skill. If you're thinking about paying someone for professional help, be sure to ask them what sort of experience they've had, and what sort of results they get.

Support

One of the big myths of modern life is that we can do it alone. Whether it's pride or fear, going it alone is a recipe for disaster.

Personal Development, Self Help & Motivational e-Books

No matter how many self development books you have, you need personal help. Weak as they were, Jesus had his disciples. Aaron was the first Life Coach in the Bible. He advised Moses to get some help. We all need help, such as:

* Mentors to guide, teach and encourage us.

* Creating a physical and emotional environment that helps rather than gets in the way.

* Accountability, whether it's a spouse, a Christian friend, minister or coach. We need someone who will ask us the tough questions, and with whom we can share the deep, dark secrets without fear or favour.

* A church that inspires and helps us.

* If your church is large, you'll also need a small group of people who you can get to know and share fellowship on a more intimate basis.

There is no need to go it alone. Even if you can't find what you need locally, the fact you are reading this on the Internet is proof that there's a whole world out there that can offer support. All you have to do is ask.

Three Quality Qualities

I have found three qualities that are essential in Christian living. They cannot be separated. They are grace, patience and trust.

We need to be absolutely assured that God really does love us, and that his love does not depend on our performance. As Phillip Yancey says "there is nothing we can do to make God love us more, and nothing we can do will male Him love us less". Do you really understand that deep in your heart and mind?

We need patience to allow God time to work in us. When we read Bible stories, we often condense time down to a 30 minute TV episode. The reality is that major changes in people and nations took place over years, and sometimes centuries. God slowly, but surely worked His purpose out. We need to be patient with ourselves, and with others. That's what grace is about.

Patience leads us to trust. If we know God's grace, and are patient with Him, we can truly trust that all things, including our failures and dark secrets, are part of His plan to make us like Him. This relieves a great burden of guilt.

So friend, this is a very brief introduction to what's involved in making a positive change in your spiritual life. You need to start with an attitude of gratitude. You need to be honest with God, yourself and others. You need support, and you need a plan.

Do you want to live like everything is a wonder or nothing is a wonder to you? Do you want to stay living familiar, numbing and safe life, which is similar with everyone else's life or do you want to walk on your own path, full of miracles?

As children we all were fully alive and present. We were curious and wondered our surroundings, we found constantly something new also in the familiar things, something that make us enthusiastic and made our imagination fly. I lost our sense of time, when we plundged to count the points at the back of the ladybird or made conecows or swam happily on the swimming ring made from tractor's inner tube. Whn we grew up we rejected new experiences, landscapes and insights. We isolated ourselves into our small world and asked where did we lose our playfulness and imagination. We do not feel alive unless we dare to search and experiment our uniqueness despite of the fact that our uniqueness makes us sometimes also lonely.

Deep inside we all remember what is the flowing life and passion of existence like, because we were all born to this world fully alive, ecstatic beings. Our soul, body and mind were all one. We were perfectly beautiful beings, and did not question our beauty. But then already in our early years our mind, body and soul were torn apart, the suffering caused by separation started. We lost the connection between our mind, soul and body, and lost the connection with our inner being. Because that connection is the foundation of our happiness, we suffer if we are missing it. The separation of our body, mind and soul is the origin of all suffering, our deep wound. All of them are meant for one body, oneness, divine being that from its own perfect oneness reaches towards the oneness of the university, and becomes one with it. This oneness we miss. We search for it everywhere outside of us without knowing, what we search for. Searching ourside of us is futile, because oneness is already within us. We only need to see and understand that in order to let go of the illusion of separation.

Our mind is only storage of the learned opinions and beliefs, which our body moves around. When body and mind do not communicate with each other, our body functions only as a vehicle for our intelligence. It has been taken away its original purpose to give us pleasure and intepretate our feelings. Then life juice compresses our a drop by drop and body gets pale and dry, until there is only a pile of bones and flesh left, body where nothing moves, no emotions, thoughts or spirit.

Without a connection with our soul we live dry and unnourished life. Soul is a channel for love to come to our life, so without sonnection with our soul we do not experience live and have feeling of the deeper meaning of life. We miss the taste of life: we miss emotions and their nuances; we miss ecstasy and joy of existence. We live numb and melancolic, our life is flat and nothing touches us. Nothing gets us to ecstasy and nothing makes us cry from pain. Our being is stagnant, musty and heavy. With the oneness of all our parts we live in the hell on the earth, anxious and sad. We have bottomless hunger and enourmous longing, which cannot be satiesfied by the biggest amounts of food, alcohol, sex or drugs. When we are split on ourselves, we cannot experience oneness with the universe. Then we miss both its wisdom and limitless resources.

It is possible to bring our soul and body back to life, because we already have all the knowledge needed for that. We have bottomless wosdom, although it might not feel like that. By quieting down and listening to our delicate inner whispering, we can get answers for all our questions. We get guidance, if we promise to follow the instructions we receive. If we do not listen to delicate whispering of our inner being, it may start screaming. Our subconscious may create a situation into our life, where we are forced to stop listening and cahnging the direction of our life or we may lose our chance to happy life. Though we lost everything tangible - as I did -, we get much more instead, when we find ourselves. When we win our resistance and reject the misleading outside information, we get to dig into our inner being, and we will always have a refreshing, healing spring, unstoppable babbling of cleaning water. There we can go to rest whenever we like to. Our soul is more valuable than all the treasures of the world all together. It is delicate and untouched, pure and deep part of our being. In the roots of the inner rainbow of emotions there is unmeasurably valuable treasure: our deepest being, we ourselves. It is our connection with the infinite wisdom of the universe and all the unvisible. It does not cling onto thoughts, objects or people but lives purely from joy and beauty. Its lifeforce is love and its fuel is emotions, from which it can create limitlessly whatever we can imagine. Our body is a doorway to the secret garden of our being.

We have to find the key to the door of our secret garden, and we may find it while weeding the grounds of our heart. We need to get rid of all "Yes, but..." and "If we are realistic..." and "Let's be reasonable...." - weeds frm preventing our dream to grow. All the doctor's diagnoses lead us further away from the truth that our pain is longing for our true being. The answer has existed all the time in our heart and it is so simple that it has been difficult to believe. Our inner voice leads us away from fear and anxiety.

We get support for our way towards the fulfillment of our heart's desires. We see the wonders in us and around us maybe for the first time. We understand the real purpose of life: love. When we embrace fully ourselves, we offer home for all parts of our being: mind, spirit and body, all what there is in us. Then we are not fighting against ourselves or trying to repress some part of us.

We realize that we are walking on the path meant for us, when the things start to happen in the right order. First small and then bigger miracles start manifesting in our life. There is a spark of magic in our life. We may for instance think of our friend who we did not hear for many years, and then the very same day she calls us. The misracles take place if we do not pass them indifferently but wonder them and thank the universe for creating our wishful thoughts into the physical form. We have to sniff and investigate everything curiously like a poppy, and continue even if we sometimes push our nose into a spiky bush. We know that the treasure will be found, when we just keep our eyes and ears open and keep looking. We need to wonder and celebrate everything we see, and thank, thank, thank for all the miracles.

Don't we ever grow so big that we stop wondering the perfect beauty of raindrops, clear tone of birdsinging and smell of cut grass? When we invite our wondering child gently back to our life, our life is funnier and colors of our days brighter than in the role of a serious adult. Do you still remember what was the favorite game of your childhood? Did it happen to be "Ten sticks on board" as mine? I still remember how it felt when I out of breath and heart beating managed to hide in the middle of the bush so that nobody could find me.

One lifetime is not enough for discovering all the wonders inside and outside of us. In the movie "The Last Samurai" the only samurai alive guessed that his time to leave this world was not far away. Still he serene, because he had lived his life following his standards: he had served the Emperor, practised fencing, meditated in the temple, taken care of his dead brother's family. He held a pink flower of a chrerry tree in his hand, looked at it ans said: "If I had all my life just been watching this flower, it would have been enough to make my life complete, as complete as this flower."

A single flower is complete and hundreds of flowers blossoming together are complete, and not the splendour of one flower makes another flower any dimmer. We too are perfectly beautiful when have opened to fully blossom, and nobody else's splendour dims our splendor. The only way to know what our journey could be like is to embark on the journey. It is better to talk less and do more, because already a single act os more powerful expression of our intention than a thousand wise theories. Idleness and indifference are abandoning God's generosity and undermining our skills, and they will kill us alive before we have begun to live. That's why every crisis, which we survive, is better than stagnancy. Our crises strengthen us and help us understand, how rich and beautiful life is, and what the waste is to worry about meaningless things.

We have given only limited time on the earth and we cannot know when our time is over. That's why we need to live each day fully, as if it was the only day left. We have to use all our senses. We have to quieten to listen to whispering of our inner being. When we tune in to receive the message sfrom our angels, we can hear, how they remind us that the purpose of our life is to love and be compassionate toeards others and ourselves. When we have found our inner truth, we can always listen to its voice by praying or meditating. Our inner being and God have both always known a truth about us, because there is no untruthfulness in our being. While praying we can always relive our past the way it has been, we can be naked without selfdeception, rejection or lies. We can again need, feel and think the things we did not dare to need, feel or think earlier. In that way we free ourselves to live this moment.

We have to keep our energy body clean and avoid all poisonous things, which threaten our living space. We can do it by consciously avoiding negative people; the ones who cultivate anxiety, shame, anger, depression, fear, complaining, moaning, apathy, stress, worry or guilt. When we encounter with an angry person, we can breath deeplt, send him friendly and loving thoughts and leave without a clash. Part of our selfcare is that we allow into our energy field only those people who bring love, peace and higher spiritual energy into our life. When we live in a quiet and clean environment and foster pace, we protect ourselves from attacks of the persons representing the lower energy levels. Then we can concentrate on our growth. When we clean our environment we search for higher spiritual energy and invite God into our life. In that way all the communication between others and us is actually about relatioship between our God and us. And although we have rejected God and turned our backs to Him and often only in distress remember His existence, He is ready to help us always when we receive His help.

Our own energy is our connection with our guiding angel who speaks us through our intuition and sensations of our body. We can talk to her and ask questions and requests. We can turn to her always when we need more clarity into our life or always when we want company or creative inspiration. When we trust our ideas and let our emotions to guide us in our life, we do not have to try to control everything with our intelligence. Our lifes gets clearer and events, things and people just happen to us all in the right place and in right time. When we follow our own truth, we are real, powerful and freely expressive, divine beings. Life is not all about making money but it does make life more comfortable. And opens doors to different possibilities of self-growth and adventure. But one needs to find the way to cultivate his dreams Comfortably. So that one lives following his heart's desire Which certainly is not to work like crazy and wake up too late in life and Realize that life has gone without participating in it, without enjoying it fully, with all the senses, by seeing, smelling, feeling, hearing, tasting, using one's intuition.

I am happy that I am living in the time of internet which gives me possibility to work from home, to stay in touch with positive energy of energetic people and provide my living by working just an hour or two a day. Some of you may be under the mistaken impression that I am an advocate for a revocable living trust in all situations. This is not true. I believe that using a revocable living trust should be decided on a case by case basis, considering the facts and circumstances of the specific case.

For example, let's talk about my mother-in-law. This is a true story.

Back when I was in active practice, my mother-in-law didn't want to ask me to work on her estate plan. She didn't want to bother me. So, she went to one of the free estate planning and living trust seminars we often see advertised in the paper.

She got caught up by the sales

pitch in the seminar (I think there was a discount if you signed up before the seminar was over) and paid for a revocable living trust, pour-over will, and health care and financial powers of attorney.

To her credit, she began to have misgivings after she received her set of "documents" so she asked me to look them over. I did. They were trash. I told her to contact the company and ask for an immediate refund. I told her to tell them I was an attorney and would take appropriate action if her money wasn't returned. They gave her money back.

I then told her to go to the legal affairs office at the military base (she is retired military) and have them draw up a simple will along with the durable general powers of attorney for health care and financial decision making.

Given her relative young age (early 60s), estate, and family situation, I saw no need or benefit to a revocable living trust in her situation. A simple will was all she needed.

And it may be all you need.

So before you get wrapped up in the complexity and cost of a revocable living trust, seek out the advice of a competent, unbiased professional to determine what estate planning documents are appropriate in your situation.

When I was a kid, my grandmother would make me go outside and play. If it was cold outside, I would dress up really warm. You wouldn't dare tell her you were bored, or she would give you chores to do. So, I would stay outside for hours.

I had to use my imagination and find ways to cure my boredom. I would make snow forts, slide down the hills on a sled and play with the animals.

Today, most parents are turning to TV to keep their kids entertained. And why wouldn't they? With shows like Barney, Arthur, and Boohbah, you could easily keep your child glued to the TV all day long.

But here's the kicker. An average 3-year old should be physically active for about an hour a day. But studies have shown that they are only active for 20 minutes. And we wonder why so many kids are becoming obese!

There are plenty of ways to reduce the amount of TV your kids watch. There are also lots of things to do instead of being a couch potato.

- One reason your child might be watching more TV is because they like the music. Instead of turning on the TV for them, put on a CD.

- Don't eat in front of the TV. Make mealtime a chance for your family to sit together and talk.

- Try offering rewards to your toddler for not watching TV.

- Distract your toddler with other things, like toys or puzzles. Don't leave the TV running in the background.

- Go outside and let your child explore. Going for walks will introduce your toddler to new things, but letting them walk instead of riding in the stroller will also help increase their physical activity.

Reading books is a very important part of your toddler's life. It encourages and enhances their imagination. It's also fundamental for their language development.

Make sure you discuss your "TV rules" with family members and any other caregivers.

Here's another reason to turn off the TV. Not only will you have a more active toddler, you might improve your own relationship with your partner by interacting and communicating more. This is beneficial for both you and the kids by showing a good example.

You don't have to take your kid back to the stone ages, but keeping their day filled with a variety of activities is important for their growth and development. They will thank you when they're older.

I'd like to tell you about a little learning curve I experienced in my Anxiety & Panic days.

I was doing a lot of thinking this one particular day, and this one particular day, it actually turned out to be quite constructive thinking for a change.

Creating Money - Spells, Rituals, Prayers, Affirmations, Herbs, Gems, Lunar Magic, Saints, Angels, ...

I realized that I actually had little "rituals" that I would do in order to stop myself from panicking. This may sound quite odd to you, but I believed that if I sat lower to the ground I thought I was able to breathe better.

I had quite a few little things that I would do like that. Even by taking comfort in being in my own home was another, I felt safer. I'd also play my guitar and in that moment I wouldn't feel these sensations, it had completely left my mind.

And I then thought to myself, hang on a minute, if I can do these little "rituals" and it can stop some of my sensations then I really can't be dying here. If I was truly dying of something deadly then this wouldn't be able to take away that feeling. Think back to when you had a severe flu or stomach bug... Sure some drugs could lessen the severity, but you actually couldn't do a darn thing to stop that sick feeling could you?

THAT became quite a therapeutic thought for me. And helped with the healing process. Maybe it can help you too?

Obesity is now assuming epidemic proportions. Worldwide there are over 1 billion overweight people and out of that more than 300 million in the obese category. With the U.S. weight loss market alone grossing over $46 Billion, and projections of 1 trillion by 2010, obesity, diet control and weight control nutrition is assuming increasing concern among health planners especially the WHO.

4. Eat natural. Increase your intake of green and leafy vegetables and fruits which are loaded with nutrients. A salad bowl is much better than a burger if you are in a hurry and have no time for a proper meal.

5. Change in lifestyle.

High stress lifestyles require more energy dense food which are high in fat. A rushed and stressed lifestyle may not be conducive to your future physical and financial health. 6. Designing and building in the required physical activities and exercises into your daily regime to improve metabolism and burn fat. A 40 minutes walk 5 days a week, a 3-4 day schedule in the gym, climbing a couple of floors rather than taking the escalator, planning an outdoor schedule during the weekends, cutting down on the television and taking up a hobby involving physical activities are all ways which will surprisingly keep off those pounds of flab and make you fitter. Weight control is better than weight loss which is a more painful process.

7. Keep height/weight charts, calorie count charts of food items, daily nutritional charts on your desk or somewhere you can see frequently to remind you constantly of your health objectives.

The first step to getting published is to find your market. Find a magazine you are familiar with and read the guidelines, read the magazine and as many issues as you can. Are they lacking a particular idea in that subject matter? Has there been an article written that didn't quite cover everything you thought it should? Write down your ideas.

4. Grammar and spelling are important for any successful freelance writing career.

Write a Great Query Letter

Most editors claim that the majority of query letters would probably turn into sales, if only the freelance writer would have used proper spelling and grammar. If you can't write a good query letter, how do they expect you to write the full article? You must give your all in every query and submission you send in.

5. Clips are not so important, though they do help a freelance writer. Of all things, an editor wants a freelance writer to provide a good, fresh idea and a quality style to your writing in your initial query letter. If your idea is good and your query letter is well written, an editor can tell if you will qualify for the assignment quickly and will more than likely offer you an assignment.

6. Write articles for smaller publications. If you are still struggling as a freelance writer, sometimes offering free articles online or for smaller publications will help boost your portfolio. This is a little trick most any new writer can do. Don't feel bad about giving away free writing! It won't stay that way and your clips often say a lot about you to editors.

With all honesty, you don't have to be the best writer to be published! You only have to be able to follow directions and come up with an idea that isn't currently being used. The "experts" have put forth these ideas for so long that they seem to be carved in stone just like Moses did with God's 10 Commandments. He doesn't know.

Hope is the most expensive word in the dictionary of any investor.

Buy a good stock and put it away. That is what the talking heads in CNBC-TV have been saying. Brokers, analysts and financial planners touted Enron last year as a quality stock. Even their bonds carried an investment grade rating. I don't mean to leave out Xerox, Global Crossing, Pan American (for you old timers) and about a thousand others if you want to take the time to look. I am not exaggerating. In 2000 there were more than 1,000 stocks on the Nasdaq that lost 90% of their value.

Charles Schwab says you can't afford to be out of the market. He wants to keep your money. I'm sure he will say you can't time the market, but there are many of us who have been doing it for years.

Vinton, who often goes by Vint, was made popular several decades ago when he helped co-design the TCP/IP protocols that eventually aided in the development of the architecture of the internet.

Cerf brings with him experience like no other. Along with his development of the TCP/IP protocols, he has worked with MCI in technology development, eventually putting them on the internet map; he spent several years working with the Corporation for National Research Initiatives; he's a recipient of the coveted A.M. Turing Award, hailed as the Nobel Prize in computing; he's the Chairman of the Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN); and he's working on the Interplanetary Network, a project with NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab to extend the power of the internet to neighboring planets.

Cerf joins Google with the tasks of helping Google build its overall infrastructure and architecture for the next generation. But those tasks are probably just the tip of the iceberg for the famed technologist.

Speaking on his new position at Google, Cerf said, "Google has already made tremendous strides in making access to information on the web a reality for users across the globe, but we're still in the Internet's early innings."

This announcement is no doubt an excitement for Google. It means bigger things on the horizon. One has to wonder what Google has up its sleeves. Only time will tell and Cerf will be there when it happens.

Real estate agents are generally paid on commission. This commission is a percentage of the sales price. The seller will generally pay 4-6% of the sales price as the fee for having a professional sell their property. That will often be split equally between the seller's broker and broker who brings the buyer to the table.

As an example, if the fee for a $300,000 property is 6%, the buyer's broker will be paid 3% or $9000 and the seller's broker will also be paid 3% or $9000. The agent is paid directly by the employing broker, using their agreed-upon commission split. This is often 50-50 for beginning agents, so in that case the agent in our example would receive $4500.

I'll add that this is essentially the same list that I receive from other audiences when I ask this question. From this comes some useful insights.

1) Notice what the list contains. All of these characteristics relate to the human side of leadership. That's interesting because I often hear people minimize this side of leadership with terms like "soft" or "touchy feely." Actually, applying these characteristics requires more strength than not.

2) Notice what the list excludes. Absent from this list (and all lists from other programs) are characteristics such as stern, mean, serious, short tempered, vindictive, tough, angry, harsh, punitive, controlling, violent, or ruthless. And that's interesting because many popular representations of leadership emphasize at least one of these "hard" characteristics. In fact, these characteristics are the refuge of those who lack the strength (or the skills) to apply the human side of leadership.

3) How about you? How would you rate yourself as a leader compared to the list of positive characteristics? If you were to survey the people who report to you, how would they describe your leadership? Would they list characteristics from the "soft" list or from the "hard" list? Could you become more effective by improving upon any of the "soft" characteristics? And how about the other leaders in your organization? Do they truly maximize human potential?

People want leaders who treat them with genuine compassion, courtesy, and respect. They want leaders who help them become more successful. They want leaders who inspire them with a vision for a better world and show them how to go there.

first thing to look for is the plant's grade.

Nearly all bare root roses sold today are grown in the field and are approximetly two years old. They are sold in three main grades.

Grade 1 is the best and most expensive grade. In order to obtain this grade the plants are required to have at least three strong cains, two of which must be at least 18 inches in length for hybrid teas anf grandifloras. The canes should be at least 1/8 inch in diameter.

Grade 1 1/2 is the most popular grade due to it's lesser price. In order to obtain this grade the plants are required to have at least two strong canes which must be at least 15 inches long for hybrid teas and grandifloras. The canes should be at least 1/8 inch in diameter.

Grade 2 is the least expensive grade. These plants are only required to have two canes 12 inches or longer. These plants can be a gamble as they may be stunted.

Measurements are for plants when dug from the fields. Sometimes the plant sellers will shorten the length of the canes for easier handling. The number of canes remain the same and usually the thicker the diameter the better the plant.

There are three main sources for buying roses.

Nurseries are normally more expensive but are usually the best places to buy your plants. Plants are normally kept in sawdust thereby allowing you to inspect the roots. Plants with badly damaged roots are less likely to do well and may not make it at all. Additionally, a nursery usually carries a large variety of new and old standards. Finally, a good nurseryperson can provide advice as to which plants do best in your area and climate.

Mail order suppliers are normally less expensive and usually have a greater variety of plants than your local nursery, however you can not inspect the plants before buying and they sometimes arrive damaged. Furthermore, although most mail order suppliers are reputable a few are disreputable and ship very poor quality plants. Additionally, it is hard and can be expensive to return plants that you are unhappy with.

Supermarkets are inexpensive but usually carry a limited variety of plants. Additionally the plants usually come with their roots wrapped in plastic, therefore you are unable to inspect the roots for damage. Plants can be treated roughly in supermarkets, not only by the people that stock them, but also by customers. Therefore, there is a much greater potential for damage.

Should you buy newly developed varieties or the old standards?

Which variety of plant you purchase depends on your taste and what is available for your climate.

There are hundreds of varieties of roses, however I prefer the older time proven standards. They may not come in as many color variations but they are reliable, still come in a large variety of colors and are usually more heavily scented (I like to smell the roses). My two favorites are both red. The Chrysler Imperial is a full well shaped velvety dark crimson red flower with a rich delightful fragrance which grows on a heavily flowering medium height bush. Mister Lincoln has long buds with full open dark rich red fragrant flowers with long stems and grows on a tall bush with dark glossy leaves.

Roses, if properly cared for, can last years. Therefore, in order to obtain the most enjoyment from your plants it is a good idea to do your research. Spend some time looking at types, colors, shapes and sizes. Check catalogues, the internet, check out friend's gardens and if possible go to an arboretum or nursery. Look at and smell the roses before buying.

I love Sussex County Delaware. I am native born, multigenerational and proud to be one of those who, as they say; "are from here". In fact the earliest records of our family show we were here well before the Mayflower arrived; some our ancestors were here in the mid 1500's or before. They settled as farmers and missionaries in the areas of what are now Lewes, Milton, Angola, Long Neck, Broadkill and Red Mill Pond.

I was raised at what is now Eagle Crest Aerodrome, near Milton and started school at Milton school then went to Lewes School and graduated from Lewes School. Since then I've lived in several areas of what we locals sometimes call "Saltwater Sussex" and what I used to call The Henlopen Quadrant; that is the locations within 25 miles of Cape Henlopen.

Cape Henlopen is the anchor point of Salt Water Sussex County, where the Delaware Bay meets and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Lewes. When you stand at Cape Henlopen Point, you can see the razor line of color change where the dark waters of the Bay meet the blue waters of the ocean in a diagonal line extending from the beach out into the sea.

The waters of the Delaware Bay are tributary and watershed runoff from the Great Marsh and all the little streams, creeks, rivers and wetlands of eastern Delaware and New Jersey as well as the effluent of the Delaware River flowing down from Pennsylvania and New York. Thus the darker waters of the Delaware Bay are that way as a result the particles and filtered organic matter from the Great Marsh and wetland areas. These darker waters then flow generally south along the Rehoboth, Dewey, area beaches until the clear waters of the Indian River and Bay pushing out the Indian River Inlet force the darker waters away from the coast and out to sea. Thus the ocean water on the beaches south of Indian River Inlet tends to be far clearer than that north of the inlet.

Lewes is known as the First Town in the First State. Lewes was the first town settled in Delaware and Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution of The United States - hence the title we proudly proclaim. Lewes was first settled by the Dutch and Swedes. There are numerous books on the history of Lewes in the local book stores, perhaps as many as two dozen different historical and entertaining books on this fair town.

Lewes has become one of the most historically sensitive towns in the area. Some people still call Lewes by its old name Lewes Towne. Some of our visitors have nicknamed it Williamsburg North with a bit of a wink and a smile. We have a wonderful little downtown along Second Street, Pilottown road, Market Street, Savannah Road and King's Highway. There are numerous specialty shops, restaurants and even the famous King's Ice Cream shop on 2nd St. to entice our numerous walkers. Lewes is, more than any other town in our region, a great place to walk all over town as you discover the little nooks, shops, businesses and trades that are usually in historically attractive buildings. In is not unusual to see hundreds of people walking the streets in Lewes, even in the off season. In the summer season, spring and fall, it is customary to see thousands of people and families slowly walking and looking at our old homes, businesses, museums and scenic views.

The Lewes Harbor is a wonderfully scenic deep water port, the only one in eastern Sussex County. There are sailboats and larger boats moored along the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal from the Roosevelt Inlet at the north end of Lewes down to the Canal Bridge where Kings Highway and Savannah Road combine to cross the drawbridge and connect historic Lewes to Lewes Beach.

Lewes Beach is more recently developed than the town of Lewes. The homes of Lewes Beach have seldom been there longer than 50 years and many of the older, smaller fixer-upper homes are being removed and larger modern homes built on the lots there. The lands of Lewes Beach, all of the lots, are owned by the town of Lewes. Residents, property owners and businesses get a 99 year lease which is renewable. The modest lease fee is paid to the town of Lewes annually. The lots in Lewes "sell" actually the leases are transferred to the new land tenants at the same price as land would be deeded.

Cape Henlopen State Park includes most of the bay front and ocean front land and beaches around Lewes. There are some communities; Pilot Point, Cape Shores, Port Lewes, and the Delaware River and Bay Pilots Association along the Bay. The Cape Henlopen State Park was once Fort Miles the Army base. Fort Miles was set up between World War I and World War II to protect the Delaware Bay shipping traffic from the German submarines. Now the thousands of acres of beach, dunes, wetlands and woods that stretch between Lewes and Rehoboth are all part of the park and the military buildings have other beachy uses.

Rehoboth is the next historic town south of Lewes. Rehoboth Beach is known as the Nation's Summer Capital; because so many of the power elite of Washington D.C. vacation and visit here. Rehoboth Beach; The Nation's Summer Capital has another name as well - Weekend Washington, a name popular in particular with the college crowd from George Washington University in downtown D.C. The traffic flow from Washington D.C. is so heavy that it is not unusual for people to spend 4 to 8 hours each Friday or Saturday driving the 100 miles from the city to our beach.

The universities of Washington D.C. are noted for being the power training bases for the world's social and ruling elite. The Georgetown University Department of Government, in cooperation with the School for Summer and Continuing Education, offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to spend an exciting semester as an intern in the nation's capital, while living and studying on the campus of one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the United States. Students gain valuable practical work experience necessary to be competitive in today's job market, while enriching their academic resume with undergraduate credits from Georgetown University. G.U. is known for its tough standards, especially at the Law school and the Medical school. This pressure is continued for the summer sessions as well. These students will become some of the finest and most famous Doctors and Lawyers in America. Almost 100% of these G.U. students exit the downtown campus on Friday after lunch and drive straight to Rehoboth and Dewey Beach. The party starts when they start the car, or in most cases the Jeep or SUV.

George Washington University sprawls throughout downtown D.C. along Pennsylvania Avenue and over toward the Watergate. G.W. or G.W.U. either one is correct, is noted as the place where the future leaders of our country are educated and interned. The school is running over with students whose parents rule and work on "The Hill", Capital Hill in D.C. G.W. students are often some of the first to escape the city and speed toward the Beach, especially Dewey Beach.

As the student guide for prestigious American University in DC says: there are many resort areas along the coast, such as Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Rehoboth Beach, known locally as the "nation's summer capital" because of its popularity among Washington, D.C. residents. The summers are hot and humid in Delaware and the beach is the major recreation area. American University is famed for educating the future leaders of the world. Many of the students are expected to help rule their particular countries after graduation. For this reason among others the sitting President of The United States gives the Commencement address at A.U. each June - no other school in the world can make that claim.

A.U. is a huge sprawling campus that meanders all over the D.C. area. These thousands of well connected students From G.W.U., G.U., A.U., and other DC area schools, are particularly expected to lead their individual countries or if they are not quite that well connected they are expected to intern and then work as executives in one of the Embassies, the European Union, the International Chamber of Commerce, World Court, International Monetary Fund, Organization of American States, Peace Corps, World Bank, World Health Organization, World Intellectual Property Organization, World Trade Organization, or the United Nations. So when you see some "kid" at the beach in Rehoboth or Dewey - pay attention, it is just possible that these "kids" may be ruling and running countries and making international headlines in a few years.

Dewey Beach is noted for it's motto's "It's A Dewey Thing", "Just Dewey It", "Live IS a Beach", "Dewey - A Way of Life" and more. Dewey Beach is the primary party spot for well financed singles with fit bodies. Dewey is the Happy Hunting Ground for the high pressured professionals of the DC area. Many have pseudonyms that are used in Dewey to protect their other place identities. Some of these Dewey People start living the summers in a Dewey House in college and never stop. There are Group Houses now where most of the participants, the partiers are in their 40s and 50s and act like they are still in their 20s - and always will. There are over two dozen party houses in Dewey on the Web alone. This represents several hundred singles that spend most of their disposable income in Dewey - and that can be substantial.

Dewey Beach is known around the world for the famous Rusty Rudder Restaurant and Ruddertowne. There is also the famous or more properly infamous Starboard, the rowdy Bottle and Cork, The Waterfront, and The Lighthouse. The customary Dewey lifestyle is to party all night, get up and run early then go to the beach and sleep off the night before while tanning. Then perhaps a little volley ball, some more running and then checking out the other "hard bodies" for someone to hook-up with for the nights partying and on it goes. The "Professionals" are able to keep this up for the Hundred Days during college and then after employment, usually in DC, they try to keep up the same average action on just the weekends and recuperate during the week. There is a famous quote, no longer legal to put in rental ads for beach houses, "4 bedrooms - sleeps 50" and the tenants try to stretch even that occupancy. Beds are often used for sleeping anyway, except by accident. Do you have an idea of what "A Dewey Way of Life" might be?

Bethany Beach is just a few miles down The Ocean Highway or The Coastal Highway or Route One or Delaware Sea Shore Highway or whatever name they change it to next week. The ride from Dewey Beach is a pleasant and beautiful one of only a few miles but the two towns are universes apart in difference. Bethany Beach is "The Quiet Place", "The Family Resort", and "The Quiet Resort" and is a town with little going on, outside of the homes. There is very little commercialism and lots of just staying at home or in some cases going to the beach or the boardwalk. Bethany Beach and South Bethany, Delaware are nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the inland bays. Bethany Beach and South Bethany Beach are situated on the Atlantic Ocean just south of Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach, Delaware, and north of Fenwick Island, Delaware and Ocean City, Maryland. Each of these little beach towns is a world different from each other one.

Fenwick Island is the southern-most town in the state of Delaware and is nestled between the ocean and the bay. Fenwick Island was incorporated in 1953 and is also locally referred to as "The Quiet Resort." This little town has maintained its own unique quality, charm and small-town atmosphere. The pristine beaches and bays offer a myriad of recreational opportunities to please even the most discerning vacationer.

Activities can range from boating, sailing, water skiing, fishing to biking. The ocean water is the clearest and cleanest in the state. The Fenwick beaches are the most spacious and least used and the primary activity outside of staying home is just lying on the beach for that perfect tan. Come see how relaxing Fenwick Island can be for you and your family. Outdoor activities are backed up with friendly home-town services. Family operated motels and restaurants provide the ultimate in comfort.

Let's NOT forget some of the lesser known beaches of Southern Delaware - those hidden little places that not even the locals know much about. These are all along the Delaware Bay, north of Lewes. They are in order: Broadkill Beach and some call it the old name Broadkiln Beach; next to the north are Prime Hook Beach, Slaughter Beach and then Bowers Beach. These little beaches, each one with a unique personality of its own have no commercial establishments to amount to anything, no boardwalks and very little rental property market. The homes are mostly very modest older homes but that is changing fast.

Broadkill Beach, where I had an office for several years, was originally just squatters who did not own the land but had little "cottages" there, usually made of spare pieces of lumber and stuff picked up in the personal junk piles of the farmers who spent time there. Broadkill Beach still has some incredibly unique and sometimes ugly homes scattered among the beautiful modern showcases. Gradually the older homes are being removed by the new owners and larger and usually spectacular homes put in their place. Prices in Broadkill are less than half of those in Lewes, sometimes far less than half!

Government Auctions - Police Auctions

There are no lifeguards, no beach cleaning, no town hall, no police, no mayor or government of any kind and few restrictions. This is a great fishing community. There are thousands of prehistoric Horse Shoe Crabs that mate and die on the beaches each summer but the locals consider that keeps the citified
people away and they like that.

Prime Hook Beach or Primehook beach depending on which map you use is far less expensive than Broadkill. There are far fewer modern homes there but the trend has started. Little by little the older, sometimes rough homes at Primehook are being refurbished. The waterfront homes at Primehook were always far larger and nicer than those at Broadkill. Many of them are not being removed, but are one by one, being restored.

Broadkill and Primehook as well as Slaughter Beach are all surrounded by huge barriers of wetlands behind them and between them. Fishermen can surf fish in the bay but mostly it is just the view from these beaches that the residents enjoy and the lost in time lack of modern restrictions and commercialism. Slaughter Beach does have its own volunteer fire department which serves as the social focus of the town. But mostly there are just good neighbors and a laid back life available at these old beaches. If you want something else, you'll have to drive a half hour or so to one of the small towns inland to find it.

Bowers Beach is a strange and wonderful world out of place. For one thing you can't get from south Bowers to north Bowers by car or foot - only by boat, unless you go many miles inland and back. The channel is only a hundred feet wide that divides the town but the two sides of town are remote from each other - except for the residents who just hop on a dingy and slip across. Bowers, on a busy day, in the height of the summer season
might see six or seven tourists in a day - but not usually that many.

Each beach as you travel north up the bay has lower prices, less swimming enjoyment, less fishing as a rule and less government and restrictions. Each has its lovers and most people will have a love or hate response to any given one of the beaches. I love them all, each in a different way and will gladly help you find your utopian dream location. Just let us know when you are ready to choose!

Here's your homework. Pay very close attention to all the "USP's" you see on TV, magazines, billboards and, of course, the Internet. You can't copy anyone but it will help you see what pulls the attention in.

Come up with a phrase that captures exactly how your prospect will feel or benefit after doing business with you and they will bookmark you, not your competitor. Capture exceptionally well how unique your business is, how wonderfully better off they'll be after working with you and you may not have to wait at all. They may just decide to go ahead and click that order button right now.

The majority of people find themselves carrying additional fat once the holidays are over. Worst of all, most of them never lose this extra weight. Over the years, few pounds gained over the holidays here and there add up to 10, 20, 30 pounds of excess fat!

To avoid falling into the holiday fat trap, follow these simple tips:

1. Don't deprive yourself. Munching on a green salad while everyone is feasting on turkey and stuffing is just not worth it. You will end up miserable, and chances are you'll binge at home or on the next party. Depriving yourself once is likely to cause you to eat everything in sight the next day to "compensate" for your suffering.

2. Don't stuff yourself. You are not a turkey, after all! :-) Remember, this is not the last time in your life that you can eat.

3. Eat a small meal several hours before the party. This will prevent you from being too hungry when faced with abundant menu. When you are not starving, you can think with your brain, and not with your stomach.

4. Eat slowly. It takes our body about 20 minutes to realize that we are full. Also, the slower you eat, the less food you'll eat as opposed to eating fast in the same amount of time.

5. Be aware of what you are eating. It's easy to get carried away in conversation, and eat way too much before you know it. Don't automatically go for more helpings while you are talking to someone.

6. If you are cooking the food, prepare healthier versions of traditional dishes. Don't go too far by trying to completely cut out the fat. Just make some slight changes such as mashing potatoes with low-fat milk, adding less butter to the food, and serving more salads and veggies. Or make the stuffing in a casserole dish outside of turkey, so it does not soak up the extra fat.

7. Deal with the food-pushing hosts by complimenting them. When they try to force more food on you, smile. Say how much you love their food, but unfortunately you are so full, you can't get in another bite. And that you'll be delighted if they gave you some of this food to take home, if there is anything left after the party!

8. Choose the turkey breast meat, since it has fewer calories then dark meat. Also, most of the fat in a turkey is contained in the skin. So, if you can, don't eat the skin. Skinless turkey breast is actually a healthy choice. But go easy on a fat-laden gravy!

9. Eat small amounts of various foods, as opposed to large portions of few foods. Sampling everything on the menu will leave you more satisfied since you've tried everything there is. But remember, moderation is key.

10. Eat that dessert. The trick here is to eat a small piece of it. This way you can have your cake and eat it too!

Free Advertising System: How To NEVER Pay For Advertising Again!

If you are in good health, you may rarely think about the money you spend on doctors and medicine throughout the year. But if you keep track and add it all up, you'll notice that you are spending more than you thought. You may be eligible for a tax-favored savings plan to help with paying for qualified medical expenses.

In 2003, the Health Savings Account (HSA) program was created for those who are covered by high-deductible health insurance policies and do not qualify for Medicare. High-deductible plans are those with an annual deductible of $1,000 or more and $2,000 or more for family coverage. You must also only have one health insurance provider.

The HSA is an account through a bank or health insurance company that you can make contributions to every year. The funds can be used to pay for health expenses for you, your spouse and dependents. HSAs can be used to cover certain medical expenses that are not covered by your insurance company. These include: doctor visits, prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and long term care insurance. You can even use the funds to pay for your health insurance deductible and COBRA benefits. If you find yourself unemployed, you can use the account to pay for your insurance premiums.

There are many tax benefits that equal savings for you through HSAs. All of the money you contribute to your HSA is tax-deductible up to the amount of the policy deductible. You don't even have to itemize your expenses. All interest and investment earnings on the account are not taxable. Money that you have in your HSA is growing tax-free. By using your HSA funds to pay for qualified medical expenses, you are using money that will not be taxed on your income.

You are allowed to deposit yearly the amount equal to your health insurance deductible. For example, if you have a deductible of $1,000, you can deposit $1,000 in your account. There is a limit to how much you can write-off on your taxes. The amount cannot exceed $2,600 for individuals and $5,150 for families. The money you deposit in your HSA must only come from cash, not from stocks or IRAs.

The funds in your HSA can be used any time, there is no time limit. The unused balance at the year's end is simply carried over, accruing tax-free investment earnings. Your money belongs to you, and is in no way connected to your employment. You can change jobs or retire without loosing your HSA benefits. If you die, the money will go to your beneficiary. A spouse can continue to use the account for tax free medical expenses.

Let's take a look at Bill. He has an adjusted gross income of $40,000. After being taxed on $40,000, he has approximately $31,400 left. He has $2,000 of medical expenses throughout the year. That leaves him with $29,400 of available income.

Let's say Bill has an HSA and an insurance deductible of $2,000 (as to leave things nice and even). He contributed his full $2,000 to the account this year. Remember that he has an income of $40,000. He will be taxed for the $40,000 minus his $2,000 of medical expenses from his HSA, for a total of $38,000. After taxes he will have approximately $30,152 of available income. That is a total savings of $752 for the year!

Okay, it may seem complicated, so just remember - you are paying for medical expenses with non-taxed money. Money that isn't taxed is more than that which is taxed. An HSA can help you to save money throughout the year on many expenses that are not covered by your insurance. And remember, every penny saved gets you closer to a successful financial future.

Mail Sales Letter Readers With Good Transition Sentences

Anglers in Maine catch trout using dry flies with barbless hooks. Unless they keep tension on the line all the way to the net, they lose the trout. Your sales letters must do the same. But how?

One secret to keeping busy business readers hooked is to use irresistible transition sentences. Transition sentences come at the end of one paragraph and the beginning of the next. Good transition sentences leave your readers hanging in a number of ways.

One of them is to tell your reader that a number of things are coming up, forcing your reader to transition to the next paragraph to learn what some of those things are. If you've ever listened to a person with a pronounced stutter, you know how hard it is to wait while that person completes a thought. Your prospects are the same. If you almost complete a thought at the end of one paragraph, they will begin reading the paragraph that follows to complete your thought. But that's not all.

Another way to keep your reader hooked throughout your copy is to end one paragraph with "that's not all" or a similar phrase. Or to start your next paragraph with the word "another." Each device shows the prospect that you have not finished, that the prospect has more to learn. And so the prospect keeps reading. And yes, there are some other hooks you might want to try.

You can start a paragraph with the word "you," the one word that prospects and customers never tire of seeing in print. Or you could try another proven tactic.

And that is starting a paragraph with the word "and." Read the Gospel of Mark in the Bible sometime. It's one of my favourite books. You'll find the narrative almost impossible to stop reading, it's so exciting. That's because the writer begins so many of his sentences with "and" that you are compelled to continue reading to discover what comes next. (I won't give away how the book ends. Read it and find out.) But there's another device that's just as powerful as the word "and." Do you know what it is?

It's the question mark. Put one at the end of one paragraph, with the answer at the beginning of the next paragraph, and you'll keep your readers headed towards your net.

So here's the one thing you need to remember. You've figured out by now that the secret to effective transition sentences is to keep your prospective buyer in a state of suspended satisfaction, one where they must keep reading your letter to the end before they feel gratified. And there's only one sure way of doing that.

When merged the new company would serve all of the United States without any competition. As we all know, competition spurs progress and a merger would basically result in less progress. At the present time about 25 to 35 million homes do not have access to cable TV services. Those people have the choice between 2 satellite TV companies. The merger would reduce this to just 1 company, which clearly is a monopoly position that is not allowed. Even in areas with cable TV the merger would result in just 2 providers, of which each has a monopoly on its own technology. Further, EchoStar claimed that the merger was needed to be able to compete against the cable TV Giants. However, satellite TV was growing very fast while cable TV was loosing clients. Out of every 3 new cable/satellite TV clients, 2 would go for satellite TV.

EchoStars proposed self-regulation does not compensate for the basic monopoly issues.

EchoStar and Hughes promised local TV programming to all 210 TV markets. However, the day after this promise, EchoStar asked the Supreme Court to overturn a law that required local carriage. They said they had no intention to carry all channels with the new company. At the time, local channels were available in just 41 markets while the 2 companies together already had the technology available to provide local programming in all 210 markets. A competitive market is more likely to speed up these services than a self regulated monopoly.

A proposed national pricing plan that would guarantee that prices would be the same in both rural and urban areas was also not accepted as prices could be set too high.

The merger would create a monopoly position for broadband internet services in areas that are not served by DSL or cable, the only alternative to broadband internet services is via satellite.

Over all it seemed that without any other satellite TV providers a merger of the 2 companies was not possible. The public's interest was just not served by a merger (or at least not enough).

Some markets just don't have much competition because of their nature. Satellites are expensive to build, put into orbit and operate. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in the age 65 and over group in both the United States and the United Kingdom. One in six Americans between the ages of 55 and 64 will be affected which increases to one in four between the ages of 64 and 74. Over the age of 75 one in three will be affected. Each year 1.2 million people of the estimated 12 million people with macular degeneration will have severe loss of central vision.

What is macular degeneration

The macular portion of the retina is where central vision occurs. This is the vision that allows us basically to see. This portion of the retina is mostly populated with cone cells, which are the cells that allow us to read, write and generally see things when there is sufficient light. The rod cells populate the rest of the retina and are what we see with in darkness. The cone portion of the retina has one of the highest metabolic rates of any group of cells in the body and like the brain, needs a constant supply of nutrients to maintain good vision. Anything that compromises blood flow to these cells can cause loss of function of these cells ie macular degeneration.

Symptoms

Because the brain is very good at filling in the visual picture, the early loss of function of the macular cone cells may go unnoticed. This means that in the early stages most people with macular degeneration don't know they have it. By the time it is usually diagnosed, it can be very advanced with considerable loss of visual acuity / central vision.

What Is A Shahtoosh Shawl?

In Persian, &Shahtoosh' means &King of Wools'-a perfect description for an ultra fine wool that's softer than either Angora, Pashmina and Cashmere.

Shahtoosh shawls are so incredibly lightweight that they can be passed through an average sized finger ring, hence their common name, &Ring Shawls'. We're going to talk about one of those issues that I think is the most serious stumbling blocks to Internet success: fear of losing money.

Now, I'm sure that you're reading that statement and probably thinking, "Oh God, here we go..." But, you know, I honestly believe that our fear of spending money has proven to be one of the most cancerous issues we have.

There's an old adage that "it takes money to make money." We've all heard it. It's really become a bit of a cliche, and as such, it's widely ignored or just said in passing. But, it's actually just as true today as it was decades ago.

The most cunning Internet marketers, however, won't tell you that. And I don't really blame them. It's much easier to get money out of people by telling them what they want to hear than by telling them the truth, and if all you want is people's money, you'll tell them anything to get it. While I don't "blame" them, I certainly don't agree with them.

Listen, we're a fast-paced society. Most people would agree with that. But, what they're not so readily willing to agree with is that we're also a frugal society, a society that loves to get instant results for the least investment of time or of money.

Look around the Internet in the marketing circles. One thing you'll see emphasized over and over again is the word "only" as it relates to price, and "just 15 minutes a day" as it relates to time.

They tell you, "All 150 software packages are yours for only $19.95."

They tell you, "Spend just 15 minutes per day at your computer and you'll be a millionaire with this system."

Why do they say such things? Because they're trying to get you to make the one time purchase of their miracle solution. And we keep buying into it with the hopes that this time it'll work.

Are they lying to us? Are they flat our fibbing about what can be done with their system? Absolutely not. I'm sure that they probably only spend 15 minutes at their computer, and most of that time is spent checking their Clickbank or Paypal earnings from the day before.

And I don't pretend to believe that the people who submit their testimonials are lying about their success. I have no reason to think such a thing.

You see, the question you should be asking is NOT: Can the average Joe make lots of money with your system?

The question you should be asking is: WILL the average Joe make lots of money with your system? In other words, are the successes more numerable than the failures? If someone follows the steps, do they have a pretty solid chance of having their own success story?

Most marketers, if honest, would answer, "Heck no!" But, they weren't selling us on the reality. They were selling us on the possibility. And we kept buying into it.

Notice that I said "we".

I can't tell you how much money I've spent buying e-books that were supposed to change my life. Did they work? NO!

I've even bought e-books that were advertised as marketing software. To find out it was just an e-book was upsetting to say the least. Could I get a refund? Well, technically, e-books ARE a form of software, so I wasn't necessarily lied to.

The moral of this article is simply this: As hopeful Internet successes, we have to stop looking for free lunches, cheap resources, and miracle solutions. We need solid, yet affordable MARKETING TOOLS.

Think about that for a minute. We've bought e-book after e-book. Why? Because it promised us information that would change our lives. Come on people! This is the INFORMATION AGE. Information is all around us, especially on the Internet. I can find the information most people are selling for free!

Now, at this point, it probably sounds like I'm very anti-marketing or anti-spending. Actually, I'm neither of those things. Spending money is absolutely necessary.

I said before that I think that our fear of losing money is our biggest problem. I'm just pointing out how it is that we've gotten so afraid to spend money.

You see, we've bought into the wrong things.

What I think is that spending money is necessary, but we should stop spending money on information. If it's just $10 or $20, no big deal. But some of these worthless e-books and reports are going for $99.95!

You know why they're priced that way, don't you? Because making you pay that much for it is a means of manipulating you to use the programs their e-book is advertising. In other words, if I spend a hundred bucks on a system, you'd better believe that even if I don't like the system, I'm going to at least try it so that I can feel like I got my money's worth.

It's the smartest game marketers play, and it works over and over again!

Information is definitely something you will need. But, it is NOT something you should pay lots of money for because in this age, it's likely you can get it for free with a little research.

What you SHOULD be dishing out money for are the TOOLS you'll need to put that information to use, and this is exactly where we have went wrong. We've invested more into promises made by the sharing of information, while we were hesitant to invest in the tools necessary to bring those promises to pass.

Actually, there's a pretty good reason why we are hesitant. With information products, we expect for one $30 purchase to change our lives.

Target Marketing Plan and Online Promotion Tools

However, with marketing tools/resources, we have to purchase from 3 or 4 different sites (possibly more) in order to get all the various tools we'll need.

For instance, every serious Internet marketer needs a feature-rich autoresponder service, and there are many to choose from. So, let's say that you find a good autoresponder service for $19.95/mo.

Next, you need a nice ad tracker system, one provided by a site with GREAT uptime and server stability. Keep in mind that if their server goes down, so do ALL the links into your site through that server. So, you finally decide on a nice ad tracker service for $19.95/mo.

Now, we all need leads, so you decide to purchase monthly recurring leads since it's cheaper that way than if you made one-time purchases. So, you enter into an agreement to purchase 5,000 leads per month for $19.95/mo.

Altogether, you wind up spending $59.85/mo for these three absolutely necessary marketing tools. But, the collective price bothers you, and so instead, you wind up buying an e-book for $19.95 that promises to change your life tomorrow with only 15 minutes of time and absolutely no investment of money, except for the $19.95 you paid for the e-book, of course. ;-)

Are you getting my drift? Are you seeing how we're kept down by this cycle of frugality.

Take some time and do some research. Find a system that can provide you with multiple marketing tools, the tools you'll need to take your business to the next level. Once you find it, don't be afraid to invest in it. Marketing tools work a lot better than marketing promises.
